In the interest of helping people create better-looking RB applications, I’m going to put together a list of custom controls….
Wait a second, that’s kind of what RBGarage is, isn’t it?
Hmmm…I guess what’s missing there is a way to see the controls without going to each site and downloading the demos. I like what Einhugur does — he shows actual pics of the controls so you can get a grasp of what it does for you right off the bat.
So, maybe there’s an opening for something that would “extend” RBGarage…
Any ideas?

Someone on the RB Forums asked about using timers to control the coloring of some squares (what for, I have no idea). So I put together a sample that shows how I’d do it.
There’s a six minute video detailing how to use REALbasic Timer Controls in your program.

REAL World Speaker Contest

A couple days ago I found out that REAL Software is having a “speaker contest” for REAL World 2008, the REAL Software User Conference. They say…
Winners will not only get to present to the entire REAL World audience, they will also get a free conference pass and free hotel room stay during the event.
I decided I’m going to enter — it looks like (unless they’re flying under the radar) that only one other person has entered the contest at this point. If they only have 2 entries do we both get to speak? Or, will they extend the deadline? (That’s my guess as to what will happen.)
As soon as I have my entry online I’ll put up a link so you can take a look.

I used to make my living as a programmer — now I’m more of a marketer. So why this blog? Because half of the stuff I market is software written in REALbasic!
I have a love/hate relationship with RB but for right now it’s the best solution for cross-platform programming, so I’ll stick with it for now.
In this blog I’ll post tips and tricks that I’ve found helpful, as well as video tutorials to help you understand different topics.
